Noble Gas Solutions Marks 75th Anniversary of Service to its Customers and Community

Leading supplier of industrial gases has evolved to meet the needs of industry and provided significant philanthropic support, including a new pledge to invest $75,000 in local causes

KINGSTON, NY—From its origin as a welding supply company to its transformation into a leading supplier of industrial gases and related products, Noble Gas Solutions today celebrated its 75th anniversary in business by reaffirming the importance of its core principle for success: an unwavering commitment to its customers and its community.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this exciting milestone, and most importantly, to acknowledge the vital role our employees, customers, partners and community have played in Noble’s success,” said David Mahoney, President and CEO of Noble Gas Solutions. “We consider ourselves fortunate to mark this achievement at the same time we continue to invest in and grow our company, and we look forward to a bright and prosperous future.”

The company was founded in 1940 as Albany Welding Supply Company, Inc. and incorporated on March 17, 1952. It was later rebranded as AWESCO in 1985 and Noble Gas Solutions in 2010. Today, Noble Gas Solutions is recognized as a cornerstone of the business community in Kingston. The company has shown a unique ability to evolve in order to meet the region’s economic challenges and opportunities, developing products and services to support the manufacturing era during Noble’s early years; acquiring Walter Smith Welding Supplies, Inc. in Kingston, NY in 1996 to expand its market reach into the Hudson Valley;and supporting the rise of the high-tech sector that is helping to fuel the region’s prosperity.

Along the way, Noble has been recognized on numerous occasions for its success. Just last month, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored the company with a “Blue Ribbon Small Business Award” as one of the top 100 small businesses in America. Previously, the U.S. Small Business Administration presented Noble with its “Excellence in Small Business Award.”

Of equal importance to Noble is its strong commitment to giving back to its communities served through philanthropic and volunteer support of charitable organizations and causes. In honor of its anniversary, the company plans to invest an additional $75,000 to support local causes, building on more than $2 million that Noble has contributed during its proud history to support those in need. The first $5,000 installment was announced today to support several organizations: Family of Woodstock, Asbury-Katsbaan Fire Co., YMCA of Kingston & Ulster County, and Boys & Girls Club of Kingston.

“It is a distinct pleasure to congratulate Noble Gas Solutions on reaching this historic milestone of 75 years as a successful and thriving business,” said U.S. Representative Chris Gibson. “Noble’s presence in the Hudson Valley shows not only the strength of our small business community, but also the important role that small businesses play in creating jobs and supporting the regional economy.”

“We are fortunate to count Noble Gas Solutions as a strong member of our small business community, including its facility in Kingston,” said State Senator George Amedore. “I congratulate Noble as the company celebrates its 75th anniversary of providing good jobs and high-quality products and services to support our economy, and wish them many more years of success.”

“I am proud to congratulate Noble Gas Solutions on this momentous achievement, which is a testament to the company’s ability to adapt and expand to an ever-changing business and energy market in New York State,” said Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, representative of the 103rd Assembly District. “Indeed, their recent citation as a Blue Ribbon Small Business, an award handed down by the United States Chamber of Commerce to recognize top 100 small businesses in the nation, reaffirms their excellence in the field of specialty gas supply, commitment to sound business practices and positive impact on local economies. Having grown up around the corner from their Downs Street Kingston branch, I am proud to have Noble as a cornerstone of our small business community, and I look forward to working with the company towards the development of clean energy solutions that will benefit both the immediate Kingston community and beyond.”

“It is a pleasure to offer congratulations to Noble Gas Solutions on the important occasion of their 75th anniversary,” said Kingston Mayor Shayne Gallo. “We salute Noble for its valuable contributions to our city’s and region’s economic well-being, as well as its support of our community, and offer our sincere wishes for continued success.”

“This generous support from David and Noble Gas Solutions is remarkable as it enables us to provide much needed shelter, emergency food pantries, court advocates, counseling and case management services, crisis hotlines, and child care for families,” said Family of Woodstock Executive Director Michael Berg. “FAMILY will continue to be an anchor and beacon of hope for area residents.”

“On behalf of the membership of the Asbury-Katsbaan Fire Company, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for Dave and Noble’s very generous donation,” said Kevin Drescher, Asbury-Katsbaan Fire Company President. “This donation will help maintain the community’s fire station and support vital programs here in the Hudson Valley.”

“David and Noble Gas Solutions’ generous gift is truly a gift that will keep on giving,” said Heidi Kirschner, YMCA of Kingston & Ulster County, NY President and CEO. “By investing in the social, health, physical education and recreation services, the lives of children and families throughout Ulster County will be enriched.”

“The generous contribution from David and Noble Gas Solutions supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kingston’s mission in inspiring and enabling all youth to lead better lives,” said Joseph Fay, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kingston CEO.  “With their investment, we will continue to provide the many needed services and programs to our youth and truly be “The Positive Place for Kids.”
